We work for the empowerment and autonomy of women!

The Food Justice program for women and girls is CARE’s strategic line of action to ensure that women, girls, and the young population have a voice and a leading position in the exercise of their citizenship and in the defense of their rights and diverse identities; it allows them to grow free of violence, with economic autonomy, and inclusive, sustainable, and resilient means of subsistence when facing climate change and other risks.

By implementing this program, we expect that by 2030, women and young female producers and entrepreneurs —especially those from indigenous or rural communities, and from contexts of economic and labor precariousness—, strengthen their economic empowerment and autonomy and effectively influence policies and social imaginaries in favor of their economic and labor rights, nutritional food security, water and sanitation, the advancement in redistributive care systems and practices, and enjoy a life free of violence, without discrimination based on their gender and identity.
