A New Beginning

with Quaker Qrece

Edwin Bacajol, a 4-year-old boy, was facing chronic malnutrition, a problem that affects millions of children in Guatemala.

At the start of the Quaker Qrece program, his appetite was minimal, and his physical and mental development was compromised. However, thanks to his family’s efforts and the comprehensive support of the program, Edwin overcame these challenges.

With the specialized food provided by Quaker Qrece and consistent guidance, Edwin experienced remarkable recovery. In just one year, he grew 8.6 cm and gained 3.7 pounds.

The transformation went beyond the physical. Edwin became a curious, energetic child eager to learn. His vocabulary grew rapidly, he showed interest in colors, numbers, and letters, and he expressed his desire to attend school.

During the program’s demonstrations of nutritious recipes, Edwin actively participated and asked for them to be prepared at home. This interest helped his family adopt new nutritional and hygiene practices, improving not only his well-being but also that of his siblings.

Edwin’s success is a testament to the impact of the Quaker Qrece program. This initiative not only provides specialized food but also strengthens families’ abilities to achieve sustainable improvements in their quality of life.

In a country where 49% of children under five face chronic malnutrition, Edwin has become a symbol of hope and resilience.

Together, we are building a brighter future for the children of Guatemala.
